About Us

At Communicare Training we have a small core team with complimentary skills and expertise, led by our founder Mike Evison. Our clinical educators collaborate with highly-talented professional actors who bring our sessions to life. We believe a kind and supportive approach to teaching is the best way to facilitate learning and create safe and caring environments in our workshops. We recognise the amazing talents of all our participants and our approach promotes peer-to-peer learning too. We have strict internal quality control procedures to ensure we offer the service our customers deserve and constantly evaluate our techniques and materials based on participant and customer feedback to continue to improve our product.

Our Teaching...

Methodology

Through our professional experience, and backed up theoretically by our educational qualifications, we believe in a mixed methodological approach to teaching and learning. However, "experential learning" is at the heart of our approach.

Simulation

We write bespoke simulation scenarios to mimic the reality of your working environments. They are brought to life by our team of professional actors and we create a safe space for your employees to practice their existing as well as learn new skills.

High Fidelity

Our industry has been dominated in recent years by expensive technology to try and make simulation feel real. We believe that so much can be achieved purely through well-written scenarios that our incredible actors make feel completely real.

Versatility

Our strength lies within our ability to recognise and overcome communication barriers which may be limiting the potential of both individuals and teams. No workshop ever runs the same and we adapt in real time to meet the needs of our learners.

Highly Valued

Learners continually feedback to us that they leave our sessions confident in their ability to use the new knowledge and skills they have gained from an environment in which they feel personally invested in and cared for.

Cost Effective

We can be flexible with different budgets but can guarantee you will not be dissatisfied with our work. We believe we offer a fantastic return on investment whether this is from increased productivity of staff or one of the many other potential benefits to your team from working with us.

Dr Michael Evison

I'm a Consultant Psychiatrist with a passion for education, communication and helping people develop confidence in challenging clinical situations. Alongside my clinical work within an NHS Neurodevelopmental Service, I design and deliver training for healthcare professionals across a wide range of settings, from undergraduate medical education to experienced clinicians.

Teaching has always been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. I was previously an Honorary Clinical Lecturer and Year 3 Deputy Module Lead in Psychiatry at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, where I was awarded Psychiatry Tutor of the Year in 2022. I later completed a Postgraduate Certificate (Merit) in Simulation in Clinical Practice while working as a Clinical Simulation Fellow, experiences that shaped my practical, highly interactive style of teaching.

More recently, I have led the development of a nationally unique ADHD Primary Care training programme within the NHS. I designed the curriculum from the ground up, including a comprehensive three-day diagnostic course and a one-day prescribing and treatment course. These programmes have now trained more than 100 healthcare professionals to assess and manage ADHD safely and confidently in primary care.

My educational interests extend beyond psychiatry. I regularly deliver workshops on communication skills, leadership, neurodevelopmental conditions, simulation-based education and clinical decision-making. I also work closely with the British Psychotherapy Foundation, where I develop and facilitate psychiatric simulation workshops for psychoanalytic trainees.

Having worked in emergency medicine, acute medicine and psychiatry, I understand the realities and pressures of frontline clinical practice. My aim is always to make learning engaging, practical and immediately applicable, whether I'm teaching medical students, GPs, psychiatrists, multidisciplinary teams or organisations outside healthcare. I believe the best education doesn't just improve knowledge—it builds confidence, changes behaviour and ultimately improves outcomes for the people we support.
